Module description

The module examines a range of theories, concepts and approaches to Human Resources and the contribution these can make to organisational learning, organisational management and organisational performance. The module discusses the influence of social and cultural factors on the selection and implementation of HR strategies in different contexts (eg in the public and private sectors and in developed and less developed countries). The content will include: comparisons of traditional and contemporary approaches to HRM/D, including different theories about how adults learn: appreciating the variety of learning styles and matching training approaches to a range of learning styles and cultural contexts; training needs analysis; designing and evaluating training programmes; integrating learning into organisational practice.
