Module description

This module represents the discipline specific element of the Design and Professional Skills module. Students work in teams on the planning and concept design of a real construction project provided by industrial advisors, this exercise develops the skills acquired and concepts studies in Design and Professional Skills A. The basic techniques of construction management and surveying are also introduced in this module. In construction management knowledge of the roles of individuals and organisations within the industry are developed and basic techniques for the control of time and money are introduced. Surveying aims to familiarise students with the theory, methods and instrumentation used in surveying, particularly regarding construction sites.
