Module description

This module comprises two main areas: CDM Regulations and the Design Project.

CDM Regulations introduces the essential principles of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 and their influence on the design process. A case study is used to underpin the course content.

The Design Project develops design skills further, using a major construction project that integrates aspects of design practice studied in concurrent modules. The design project includes both a feasibility stage and a risk assessment. Additionally, an introduction is given to the principles of RC detailing and structural design in timber and masonry.
