The aim of the module is to introduce a systems approach to manufacturing engineering and consider the engineering requirements to plan and operate integrated manufacturing systems.

Positioning accuracy and repeatability;
CAM strategies and programming including high speed and 5-axes machining;

The structures and operating characteristics of programmable equipment and their applications in industry;
Automation definition, types and justification;
Motion conversion systems;
Power transmission systems for automation;
Robotic systems classification and selection for manufacturing automation;
Robot components, operation and programming;
Robotic workcell design;
International standards and protocols.
