Sport takes centre stage at Birmingham, not only on the student playing fields, but as a key part of our community facilities. We believe that sport is for all; from world-class athletes to general fitness, the power of sport motivates and inspires.
For over 100 years, the University of Birmingham has played a major part in the success of the city, the region and the world. For almost as long, we have been recognised globally for our support and development of sport, exercise and movement. To that end, the University will open its £55 million University of Birmingham Sport & Fitness club on 22 May 2017 at the heart of Edgbaston. The club will cater for thousands of community members, teams and groups.
The club will provide world-class opportunities for everyone in the region and offer an unrivalled fitness experience. The facility will include Birmingham’s first 50m swimming pool, a large multi-sports arena, six glass-backed squash courts, a 10m climbing wall, five activity studios and a Performance Centre. The gym will also host almost 200 stations of state-of-the-art equipment across two floors, with industry leading experts on hand to take your fitness to the next level. Members will also have access to a choice of up to 200 fitness and sports classes a week. Be prepared to push yourself and achieve your goals with the University of Birmingham.
