The Chancellor will be:

a distinguished person with a demonstrable record of excellence and experience in his/her field;

able to demonstrate a commitment to the University and share its ambition to become a leading global university;

an individual whose reputation and experience will assist the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor and other senior members of the University to network, opening doors nationally and internationally;

a person who will be able to assist with fundraising initiatives;

an individual who has a range of important contacts which would assist the University;

a person who is able to empathise with Birmingham students and alumni;
-
an articulate and effective communicator, able to represent the University to diverse audiences in a wide variety of public and private settings and able to command the respect of potential funders and alumni.
The Chancellor will need to be able to devote on average 10-20 days a year to the role.
The Chancellor will not be a current student or member of staff and current serving politicians will not be considered.
