Leisure in the Ancient World

  • Friday 21 March 2014
  • From 14:00 to 17:00

The afternoon will start with keynote lectures on the subjects of theatre and games in ancient Greece and/or Rome. After this students will have the opportunity to take part in a hands-on session working with artefacts in the departmental museum, as well as attend workshops on texts and sources related to leisure activities in Rome, Greece, and Egypt (e.g. ‘Leisure and the art of love in Roman love poetry’). For those studying Latin at A-level, a workshop will be offered on the theme of leisure in the set texts (e.g. Ovid Amores III).

Please note that places for this event are limited to 60 students.
