The Advanced Boiling Water Reactor
- Location
- Mechanical Engineering Building, Room G29
- Dates
- Tuesday 21 April (10:00) - Wednesday 22 April 2015 (09:00)
Hitachi-GE is organising a series of seminars on boiling water reactor technology at Imperial College London, Manchester and Birmingham Universities supported by JICC. This free seminar will be held at the University of Birmingham, 21–22 April 2015. The Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) is the only advanced (generation 3+) reactor already constructed and operating in the world (with four units operating in Japan). With the purchase of Horizon Nuclear Power by Hitachi Ltd this technology will now be deployed as the UK ABWR at Horizon’s sites at Wylfa and Oldbury.
The seminar will be a valuable introduction to ABWR technology, and an opportunity to meet key people in the Hitachi-GE team and network with other key players in the UK nuclear industry. The topics covered at the seminar will be:
• Overview of ABWR
• Nuclear Material
• Water Chemistry
• Manufacturing Technology
• Invited Lectures
