The College of Social Sciences brings together over 360 academics (including 86 professors) and 264 professional staff across a range of disciplines and interdisciplinary fields. Around 25% of our staff are international and combined with over 42,500 global alumni representing over 185 countries, our work impacts all areas of society grounded in the key disciplines of business, economics, education, government and society, and social policy.
Our 300,000 alumni all share one thing in common: the University of Birmingham. From recent graduates to industry experts, aspiring leaders to inspirational movers and shakers, Birmingham alumni are making important things happen.

The College of Social Sciences was thrilled to host a presentation to recognise the outstanding contribution of our researchers to society on Wednesday 21 June 2017. With categories covering early career researchers, business and policy, there were a wide range of different projects acknowledged.
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has recognised the ground-breaking impact of a leading Birmingham Business School project, by awarding the co-directors an award as part of the 2017 ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize.
POLSIS staff commitment to the best in assessment and feedback is highlighted in a recent special issue of the journal European Political Science.
