On his first day as Chief Executive of NHS England, Simon Stevens stated that the National Health Service was facing its biggest challenge to date because of the most sustained 'budget crunch in its 66-year history'. Since then, however, I have managed to avoid leaving the Department by adopting various guises, including Teaching Assistant, PhD student, Visiting Lecturer and now Teaching Fellow.
