Kushal Rugjee, our student in BSc Human Biology, spent his summer at the University of British Columbia in Canada researching cancer genes.
Kushal, now entering his final year, spent his summer as a researcher at the University of British Columbia in Canada, assisting in a number of projects to analyse mutant genes in cancer research. Kushal also took part in a Universitas 21 student conference in which he worked with other international students and leading academics to propose solutions to future issues such as the global food shortage.
On his research internship, Kushal says: “I now have a sound idea of what the life of a researcher is like. I’ve had the chance to speak with people who have been through the system and have been willing to share their experience with me. I am even more motivated in pursuing a scientific research career, and my experience will certainly give me an edge when I apply for further work experience or graduate position.”
