IT Services

IT Services is responsible for provision of the core IT infrastructure and application services across the University. Central and College-based teams in IT Services together with other University staff collectively deliver and support a wide range of applications and services used by students, researchers and administrative staff. They also manage projects to deliver new applications and services, or enhancements to existing capabilities.

IT Services consists of the following groups:

  • Quality – providing first line support to students, staff and visitors through the IT Service Desk and the ‘Fix-It’ service in the Guild of Students
  • Customer IT Support – providing front-line support to Colleges and Corporate Services and managing local services in Colleges, student clusters,  and the University’s web and library systems
  • Business Systems – developing and supporting new application systems and services
  • Facilities Management – managing the central infrastructures – data centres, servers, storage, databases, and the high performance computing service.
  • Networks – managing the Campus Network – wired, wireless and remote services, voice and mobile services, identity and directory services
  • Project Office – providing professional project management services for projects across the University
  • Architecture – ensuring clarity and consistency of overall IT architecture, IT Security management, leading on IT service innovation

Together, the IT Services teams strive to provide up-to-date, effective and customer-oriented services to students, staff, visitors and partners.

The Director of IT Services is responsible for the University’s IT Strategy across the whole University, and oversees the IT governance structures and processes, including IT innovation, service and information security management.
