The Chancellor

Sir Dominic Cadbury was installed as the Chancellor of the University of Birmingham in 2002 and he is the honorary head of the University and presides over meetings of Court, one of the three governing bodieSir Dominic Cadburys of the University.

The Chancellor is appointed by the Crown, following an election by the University Court, on the nomination of the Council.  

The duties of the Chancellor include presiding at Degree Congregations, chairing meetings of the University Court and acting as an ambassador for the University in the UK and internationally.  Sir Dominic has also had significant involvement in fundraising and development activity for the University.

The Chancellor’s term of office is until 31 July 2012.
