A delegation made up of representatives from a number of Brazilian energy companies, colleagues from key higher education institutions in Brazil, and consular staff from the British Embassy Brazil visited the University of Birmingham on Wednesday 3 February to explore potential collaborative opportunities in relation to Energy Storage. 

A welcome dinner, hosted by Professor Martin Freer, Head of the School of Physics and Astronomy and Director of the Birmingham Energy Institute took place on the evening of Tuesday 2 February, allowing for an important networking opportunity between colleagues from the Birmingham Energy Institute,  the International Relations team here at the University of Birmingham, and delegates from Brazil. On Wednesday 3rd of February, Dr Jonathan Radcliffe from the School of Chemical Engineering and Senior Fellow in Energy Storage, led a session of presentations on the work of the Birmingham Energy Institute and the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage, with further presentations from Professor Yulong Ding, (Director of the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage, School of Chemical Engineering) Dr Karl Dearn, (Director of Industrial Liaison, Mechanical Engineering) and Professor Xiao-Ping Zhang (Director of Smart Grid, Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering). Delegates were also taken on a tour of the facilities relating to energy and energy storage on campus, and also had the opportunity to give an overview of the Brazilian energy landscape to University of Birmingham colleagues.
