Student societies

Many nationality groups form student societies during their time at the University of Birmingham. This is an excellent way to keep in contact with home and also provides an opportunity to highlight your culture and customs in the UK.

Student societies are also a useful point of contact for prospective students to Birmingham who may want to contact current students for information.

For a full list of student societies please visit the Birmingham Guild of Students website.

What our students have to say...

Sewela Sebola, MSc Strategic Marketing and Consulting, 2008/09
“The programme was the main motivation for coming to the University. It has a practical element which ensured that I got both theoretical and practical knowledge in the marketing and communications field. I consulted with a UK company on social media marketing trends which I regard as an invaluable experience. I also liked the city because of its vibrant and cosmopolitan nature without the expense and rush of London. The City of Birmingham is vibrant, so much to do, friendly people and because there are so many cultures here it is also easy to find some of your home comforts being sold right here in Birmingham which sometimes eases the homesickness. My most memorable experiences were informative discussions during some of my modules on the programme. I learned so much from my lecturers and classmates. I will also remember seeing snow for my very first time in December and January; as cold as it was I enjoyed it!”
