The University extends a warm welcome to students from Kazakhstan.  We welcome a number of sponsored students to Birmingham each year and have a Memorandum of Understanding with Kazakh British Technical University in the Engineering and Physical Sciences and Economics subject areas.  We also have a University profile in Russian.

Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements. 

Birmingham Foundation Academy

We will consider students who have obtained grades of 4/5 and above in the Certificate of (Completed) Secondary Education (???????? ? ??????? (??????) ????? ???????????/O??? ????? ?????? ????????) for entry to Birmingham Foundation Academy (to include 4/5 in Maths for our Engineering and Physical Sciences pathway).

The University will consider students who have taken GCE A Level examinations, the International Baccalaureate (IB), or a suitable foundation programme, such as the Birmingham Foundation Academy, for entrance to undergraduate programmes


Students who have completed their Specialist Diploma (?????? ???????????/????? ???????) or "Magistr" (?????? ????????/??????? ???????) degree (completed after 1991) from a recognised higher education institution, with a minimum GPA of 4/5, will be considered for entry to postgraduate Masters degrees and, occasionally, directly for PhD degrees. 

Holders of a Bachelor "Bakalavr" degree (?????? ?????????) from a recognised Russian higher education institution, with a minimum GPA of 4/5, may also be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes

English Language

You may be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

Student societies

There is a Kazakh Student society at Birmingham and also Facebook and Vkontakte pages set up by Kazakh students to enable you to communicate with one another. It’s a great way to keep in touch with fellow and prospective students.
