Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements.

Please note: If you have taken exams which are from another country's national education system (eg the Abitur from Germany or SAT and AP exams from the USA) you should consult the country specific section for that country for qualification equivalence information. If you are unsure about the acceptability of your qualifications for entry to Birmingham please contact us for further details.

Birmingham Foundation Academy

Students who have completed the Devlet Lise Diplomasi or Lise Bitirme Diplomasi with an overall score of at least 3/5 will be considered for the Birmingham Foundation Academy programme.

Undergraduate

The University will consider students who have taken A Level examinations or the International Baccalaureate (IB) for entrance to undergraduate programmes.

Students who hold the Lise Diplomasi and who have completed a suitable foundation programme, such as the Birmingham Foundation Academy, will be considered for admission to a Bachelor degree programme.

Holders of the Lise Diplomasi or Lise Bitirme Diplomasi from certain schools with a score od 4/5, or who have also taken SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and AP (Advanced Placement) tests will be considered for admission to Bachelor degree programmes. For more details on SAT and AP requirements, please refer to the USA country-specific pages.

Postgraduate

Holders of a good Lisans Diplomasi with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 from a recognised university will be considered for postgraduate study at Diploma or Masters level.

Holders of a Yuksek Diplomasi from a recognised university will be considered for PhD study.


English Language

You may be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

Student societies

There is a Kazakh Student society at Birmingham and also Facebook and Vkontakte pages set up by Kazakh students to enable you to communicate with one another. It’s a great way to keep in touch with fellow and prospective students.
