Accommodation for Presessional Students

This page covers everything you need to know about securing accommodation for the duration of your Presessional English course and beyond. Below you’ll find key dates and application deadlines, as well as information on how to apply for accommodation, broken down into four easy steps.

Living at Birmingham

Moving to a new country to study is exciting, but it can be a little daunting too. At Birmingham, you’ll receive all the support you need to settle into your new home. Our friendly team will be on hand 24/7 to assist you and all our residences have 24-hour security for extra reassurance.  

We’ll also provide you with kitchen pots and utensils, crockery and cutlery, and a duvet, pillow and sheet for your bed so you don’t have to worry about fitting these in your luggage. All utility bills and Wi-Fi are covered in the cost of your accommodation too, so everything is set-up for you as soon as you arrive.   

 Securing your accommodation

It’s easy to apply for your accommodation online via the Accommodation Portal. To get started, you’ll need to create a new account. You’ll then be able to apply for and secure your room for the 2023/24 academic year too.

 

1. Apply for Presessional accommodation

Presessional accommodation applications and booking your room open via our accommodation portal on 28 February.

Once you have completed the application, you’ll be able to book your room online using our self selection booking process.

* The end date will depend on the room type of your accommodation; you will receive more details about this once you’ve secured your room.

2. Choose your room

Our rooms are available on a first-come-first-served basis via our online booking system. Therefore, we recommend booking your chosen room as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

To access the system, you’ll need to select the ‘Presessional 2023’ classification from the options menu. You’ll then be able to browse all the accommodation available, filter your search, and add your chosen room to your basket.   

3. Pay for your room

To secure your chosen room, you will need to pay in full at checkout. Unfortunately, we cannot accept bank transfers.

Our accommodation ranges from £140 to £185 per week for the duration of your Presessional English course. You can therefore expect the total cost of your accommodation to be between £520 and £3,400 depending on the duration of your stay and chosen room type.

4. Apply for 2023/24 accommodation

To ensure you have everything you need at your fingertips for when your undergraduate or postgraduate studies begin, don’t forget to apply for 2023/24 accommodation. You’ll be able to move directly from your Presessional accommodation to your new room.
