Changing Lives: A Charity Challenge

Six students around a table with baked goods and a donation bucketDid you know the University was founded by charitable giving more than a century ago?

Since then, alumni and friends have generously supported a range of projects addressing some of society’s biggest challenges. Hundreds of millions of pounds have been given to ensure that the brightest students have access to the education they deserve, whatever their circumstances. Philanthropy has helped our researchers to make crucial breakthroughs and provided outstanding facilities for students, staff and the community.

What is the Challenge?

At the beginning of November, we'll be launching our new appeal supporting 11-25 year olds and showcasing how volunteering and giving to the University of Birmingham changes lives.

We're looking for enthusiastic students to devise a creative plan to help raise awareness and money for this appeal on campus.

Working in teams, with access to experts in the fields of marketing and fundraisingyou will put your plans in action competing to raise the most funds for our new appeal.

The weekend will be packed full of fundraising workshops, networking, team challenges and an opportunity to demonstrate your talents. You'll learn the basics, plan a campaign, and bid for money to support your fundraising.

This exclusive opportunity is perfect for students interested in working in the charity sector, business and marketing.

When is the Challenge?

Changing Lives: A Charity Challenge will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November at the Impact Hub in Digbeth.

You will work in two teams, competing to raise the most money by the end of January.

Breakfast, lunch and travel between campus and the Impact Hub will be provided on both days. Dinner and a social activity will also be provided on the Saturday evening.
