Graduate Careers Intensive success stories

Graduate Careers Intensive can kick-start your career process! See how it has helped students like you improve their prospects.

Graduate Careers Intensive

GCI was an interactive, intensive one day course open to all students graduating in 2013 to provide them with practical tips to help them identify and secure their career choices. It included sessions run by recruitment professionals including workshops on getting motivated, gaining work experience and staying inspired; training on job hunting techniques, gaining credibility and realising potential; and assistance from Careers Network staff and recruitment specialists to help participants develop their own personal careers action plan.

Social media

Brian has just graduated with a 2:1 BSc in Business Management. On 13 June Brian attended the Graduate Careers Intensive event at the University. A key part of the programme entitled "Job Hunting and Job Secured" helped participants to understand how to create social media profiles and use them to maximum effect in the job hunt and to help secure roles in the “hidden job market”.

Since then Brian has worked with Careers Network and our training provider from the day - Yeah But - to develop his LinkedIn profile and has secured a role at Capgemini starting in September.

Networking

Were you at the Careers Intensive for Masters and Post Grad Students on 19 June? Did you meet our trainer for the day – Louise Morris from Yeah But? Samina Amin did.

A key part of the day focussed on effective networking, how to do it and how it can help secure your next role.

Samina seized the opportunity to network with Louise on the day and has secured a 12 month internship in the HR team at one of Louise’s client companies – Police Mutual in Lichfield!
