On Sunday 13 September, 83 alumni from the Class of 1964 and pre-1964 Golden classes, along with members of the Guild of Graduates and Alumni Association (GGAA), gathered on campus for a reunion lunch to mark the anniversary of their graduation.
The day was an opportunity for alumni to meet up with former classmates, to explore the campus and see what has changed and, indeed what has stayed the same, since their time in Birmingham. Alumni renewed old acquaintances and met new friends over a two-course celebration lunch in Staff House. The most senior alumnus in attendance graduated in 1940.
The reunion coincided with the University's Open Day, which saw Schools, Departments and all other buildings on campus open. Following lunch, alumni were able to explore the campus and visit their old departments in their own time. Alumni were also welcome to visit Winterbourne House and Garden and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts.
The lunch also coincided with the GGAA's Annual General Meeting & Forum. This year's guest speaker was The Rt Hon Ann Widdecombe (BA Latin, 1969; DUniv 2012), who spoke about her 'Life and Times'.
