Postgraduate Taught Programmes
If you wish to defer your entry to 2022 you will normally need to have met the academic conditions specified in your offer. Conditional offers may be deferred if other conditions, such as English Language proficiency, are yet to be met.
Please note that if there is a significant change in the academic requirements for your programme for entry next year your application will be re-considered against the revised requirements.
Requests to defer must be made through your applicant portal no later than 17 September 2021. We cannot guarantee to consider deferral requests received after this date.
To request deferral please log into the applicant portal and click on the ‘Deferral Request’ button found at the bottom of your application details. The deferral request option will be available to eligible postgraduate taught applicants from 1 July 2021.
Where a deposit is required, this is to be paid (or proof of scholarship provided) no later than 30 September 2021, and this must be received prior to any new offer being made for 2022 entry.
The admissions team will process deferral requests as soon as possible after the closing date of 17 September.
If you encounter difficulties in accessing your applicant portal please contact the DAAS System team. If you do not have access to the Deferral Request option in the applicant portal please contact our Postgraduate Admissions Team with your request.
Postgraduate Research Programmes
The majority of our PhD programmes offer flexible start dates, so this is not normally a problem. We would recommend that you discuss this with your supervisor in the first instance, to ensure that they can accommodate an alternative start date. Once you have agreed a new start date, please contact our Postgraduate Admissions Team with your request.
