The University of Birmingham hosts an array of opportunities to see performance in all its guises: music, dance and drama. Opportunities are available to students in various disciplines of performance, often embedded within degree programmes. They may take part to gain professional experience or simply for enjoyment.
Performances take place on campus and in venues in the city, such as the Town Hall and the Symphony Hall. Spaces on campus include the Barber Institute concert hall, the Guild of Students and the newest addition, the Bramall Music Building. This state of the art 450-seat auditorium is the most flexible performance space at a UK university - suitable for performances from solo voice, early music, to a full symphony orchestra. When not used for music, it is a high profile location for drama and dance and for prestigious lectures.
