Join our masterclass on Optimising Digital Technologies for Youth Wellbeing: A new agenda for PE and Youth Sport to generate new ways of thinking about PE and Youth Sport and the PE Teacher/Sport Coach in a digital age, and discover more about our new MSc Sports Science programmes launching in September 2021.

Abstract

The proliferation of digital technologies and social media platforms, and the generation of vast amounts of easily accessible online physical activity instruction, present a real challenge to the ways in which we conceptualise PE and Youth Sport in young people’s lives. We have long known that ‘traditional’ practices fail to meet the needs of many youth, so could PE and Youth Sport in a digital era be reimagined in ways that address some of these challenges? The main questions addressed in this masterclass are: how do contemporary youth learn; how could the design, organisation and delivery of PE and Youth Sport be adapted to take advantage of digital affordances; and how should initial training and CPD change in order to better prepare professional practitioners to operate effectively in a digital age.

This event will take place on Zoom and a link will be shared upon booking.
