Guiding principles

We will be guided by the University’s Charter in ensuring fairness and inclusivity for all individuals on our campuses and within learning and teaching activities, in accordance with local laws and regulations.

“The University promotes equal opportunities and shall exercise no discrimination on the grounds of political opinion, age, colour, disability, ethnic or national origin, gender, marital status, race, religion or sexual orientation in the admission of students, or the appointment or promotion of staff or the awarding of any Degree, Diploma or Certificate, or generally, in the execution of any of its Objects as laid down by the Charter.”

The University has a Fairness and Diversity Policy (PDF - 350KB) which sets out our overarching commitment to equality and diversity. We shall remain committed to the guiding principles of this policy as well as the appropriate equality legislation to a degree that is both appropriate and necessary, and ensures the safety of all students of the University of Birmingham Dubai.

Policies and procedures

The University is committed to ensuring parity for both Birmingham and Dubai campus students, and thus our policies that are in place currently at Birmingham should be fully transferable and applicable to Dubai.  The University will ensure that as far as reasonably possible it puts the student first in all stages of the student experience whilst in the UAE.

Our Equality Diversity and Inclusion Scheme 2021-24 (PDF - 3.99MB)  and wider policies are available for viewing on the University of Birmingham Intranet. We are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive learning and working environment, where equality is promoted, diversity is embraced, and discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated.
