Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability (EIS)

This module deepens students’ understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability by exploring their intersection in real-world contexts.

Through the study of emerging business models, disruptive technologies, and sustainable practices, students will critically engage with solutions to pressing ecological and social challenges.

Anchored in the sustainability priorities of the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East, the module introduces core principles of entrepreneurship and innovation. Students will collaborate with local companies and Emirati experts in sustainable innovation management and investment, gaining practical insights and regional relevance.

This multidisciplinary module is available to all students.

When will the module run?

The module will take place in person on campus during the Summer Term in June 2026.

What will you learn with us?

The module combines theory, case studies, and practical projects to equip students with the skills to design sustainable, profit-driven solutions. Through lectures, tutorials, independent study, and collaborative group work, students will develop an innovative business idea focused on sustainability, culminating in a Business Model Canvas.

Module credit and assessment

This is a non-credit bearing, voluntary module. It can be used to support a Birmingham Dubai Award application.
