Make sure you know what events you should attend for your course. and find other activities and events you won't want to miss from across the University and the Students' Association.

Programme inductions

It is very important to attend your course induction. You will learn about your course, meet key people, and start making connections with other students.

Induction schedules for foundation and postgraduate courses starting in January 2026 will be published closer to the start of term.

Welcome essentials: what you need to know

We've designed a series of welcome activities that will introduce you to the people, services, and spaces that will support your journey.

University inductions and workshops

Get to know the student services support available to you, from the Library services to the Careers Network Dubai. We're here to help you during your time at the University.

We recommend you attend all sessions, but please note your attendance is mandatory at:

  • University Life Essentials
  • Canvas Induction

These sessions run on multiple days, allowing you to choose a time that best fits your schedule.

Health and safety

The UAE Ministry of Education requires all students to complete their Health and Safety Induction. As well as what you will hear in the 'University Life Essentials', you must complete the Health and Safety Canvas Course (online).

Student events

The Welcome Zone will be in the atrium all week. Here you can:

  • Collect your ID card
  • Get help from IT Services
  • Sign up for clubs and groups
  • Collect your UoBD welcome bag

Your Welcome Week is packed with activities to help you settle in, meet new people, and make the most of campus life. Alongside your course induction, you’ll find mandatory sessions, skills workshops, and of course social events. Some events require registration on our events site.
