Student transport services

The University of Birmingham Dubai offers a term-time student transport service in partnership with DrivenBus, our official transport provider. The service provides safe and convenient travel between campus and key locations across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi.

What students can expect

Our transport service has been upgraded to provide a more flexible and comfortable travel experience to and from campus. You can expect:

How the service works

Routes and pick-up locations

Students should enter their pick-up location when booking. Where possible, transport will operate from a location close to the student's address. In areas with multiple students travelling from the same neighbourhood, a shared pick-up point may be arranged to provide the most efficient service.

Transport routes for 26-27 academic year are available from the following Emirates:

  • Dubai
  • Sharjah
  • Ajman
  • Ras Al Khaimah
  • Abu Dhabi

Track your journey

The DrivenBus mobile app allows you to:

  • Purchase transport tickets
  • Access your boarding pass
  • Scan a QR code when boarding
  • Track your bus location in real time
  • View journey information from your phone

Fees for 2026–27 academic year

Choose from weekly, monthly, termly, or annual travel passes.

Transport fares vary by zone. Enter your address in the booking portal to identify your transport zone and view the available ticket options. All passes are non-transferable.

Term 1: Sep to Dec 2026

Term 2: Jan to Jun 2027

Annual passes can save up to AED 1,000 compared with monthly payments.

How to register and start using student transport

  1. Complete your University registration: complete your online registration and ensure your class timetable is confirmed.
  2. Book your transport pass: enter your address in the DrivenBus booking portal to identify your transport zone, view pricing, and select your preferred start date. 
  3. Complete payment online: transport passes can be purchased securely through the booking portal.
  4. Share your timetable: after booking, the DrivenBus team will contact you to collect your class timetable and finalise your transport schedule.
  5. Download the DrivenBus app: use the app to access your transport pass, boarding pass and live journey tracking.
  6. Start travelling: your transport pass will be activated once your route has been set up.

Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your place.

When should I book student transport?

We recommend booking your transport as early as possible before the start of term. This allows sufficient time for DrivenBus to confirm your route, collect your timetable information and activate your transport pass.

Will the bus collect me from my home?

Students should enter their preferred pick-up location when booking. Where possible, transport will operate from a location close to the student's address. In areas where multiple students live nearby, a shared pick-up point may be arranged.

How do I know where my pick-up point is?

DrivenBus will confirm your transport arrangements after booking and once timetable information has been collected.

Can I track my bus?

Yes. The DrivenBus app provides live bus tracking so you can view your vehicle's location in real time.

How do I pay for transport?

Transport passes can be purchased securely through the DrivenBus booking portal or app. Enter your address to view available ticket options and pricing for your transport zone.

Can I cancel my transport pass?

If you wish to cancel your transport pass, please provide 30 days' written notice to DrivenBus.

Charges will usually apply during the notice period from the date your request is received. If you have prepaid beyond this period, any unused balance will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

No administration fee is charged for cancellations. Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 10 working days.
