Why Birmingham Dubai?
Honestly, one of the biggest reasons I chose UoB Dubai was the opportunity to study at a high-ranking, globally recognised university without having to travel far. It gave me the best of both worlds.
Plus, Dubai is such an exciting place to study and being in an environment that connects you with industry in the real world, made this an easy choice for me.
Why I chose to study Advanced Engineering Management
The Advanced Engineering Management programme stood out because it’s not just about engineering or just about management; it’s about learning how to bring both together, which is exactly what I wanted.
The teaching was amazing, the professors aren’t just knowledgeable, but they genuinely care about how we learn and apply things. It’s not just about theory; they challenged us to think critically and solve real-world problems.
My Birmingham Dubai experience
It was a great experience! I always felt that if I needed help or guidance, there was always someone to reach out to. And the campus? Super modern, well-equipped, and just a great place to study. I loved how it was set up to encourage both independent work and collaboration.
For me, the best part was that there’s also a huge focus on practical learning, we weren’t just sitting in lectures; we were discussing, debating, and applying what we learnt. And of course, the people! The community here is so diverse, and I’ve had the chance to meet some inspiring classmates and professors.
There were so many great moments, but if I had to pick one, I’d say it was the hands-on projects and industry exposure. I love how the University brought in real-world challenges and guest speakers who actually work in the field. It’s one thing to learn from a textbook, but it’s completely different to apply that knowledge to something that has real impact. Also, just the friendships I’ve made, having a supportive group of people going through the same journey made everything even better.
Birmingham Dubai’s impact
This programme has completely changed the way I think. It’s helped me connect the dots between engineering, business, and real-world challenges, which is so important in any industry. I feel way more confident in making decisions and tackling complex problems.
Plus, a lot of what I’m learning has helped me in my job, whether it’s understanding how to optimise processes or just having the ability to look at problems from both a technical and business perspective.
Advice for students
Honestly? Go for it! If you’re someone who wants to bridge the gap between engineering and management, this programme is perfect.
My biggest piece of advice would be to make the most of everything, the professors, the resources, the opportunities to engage with industry professionals. Ask questions, get involved, and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, that’s where the real learning happens.
And most importantly, enjoy the journey! It’s challenging, but in the best way possible.
