I enjoy reading, learning different languages, and watching films!
A typical week in my life
An average week in my life involves studying at the library on campus, filming content for the Law Society, walking in DIAC (Dubai International Academic City) Park, participating in other club events on campus, and visiting old souqs and cafes with my friends! I volunteer at community events and apply to Law firms whenever I find free time.
Why I chose Birmingham Dubai
I chose the University of Birmingham Dubai for the opportunity to receive a quality Russell Group University education while living in one of the most progressive, rapidly growing, dynamic cities in the world! The campus is a beautiful reflection of the Birmingham campus, with a diverse, encouraging, and supportive environment.
Why I chose the Bachelor of Commercial Law
I chose the BCL because it is an excellent programme, structured on the standard English LLB, with elements of UAE law and commercial transactions.
The opportunity to study a qualifying English Law degree with modules like UAE and GCC Law truly impressed me! Sitting at the intersection of English Law and Commercial aspects of the Middle East, this programme is truly one of a kind.
An example of this was our visit to the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) courts as a part of our English Legal System, Legal Skills and Legal Methods module!
My future plans
The BCL has actually been an amazing degree for the future I aspire to build! After graduation, I plan to sit the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) and apply for a training contract in order to qualify as a solicitor.
Studying in the BCL programme with Birmingham Law School has taught me various skills outside of academia that have helped me to understand real world contexts and aspects about Law as a field of work.
Besides academia, I've benefited from employability opportunities, workforce skills, and career guidance.
My advice to prospective students
The BCL is an excellent course to study if you want to build a career in Law, specifically Corporate Law. In a world where AI is changing everything, the BCL provides you with the skills and opportunities to stand out as resilient and adaptable.
If there was one thing I wish I knew before coming to university, it would be knowing how to network! Pursuing academic excellence is great, but so is building your community.
In University, the best way to build your network is through the 3 "P's" - Peers, Professionals, and Professors! Lastly, I'd also advise students to join extracurriculars, and participate a lot. What starts as a society can turn into a start-up!
