A day in my life
A typical day for me at the University of Birmingham Dubai starts with grabbing a quick coffee before heading to class. The lectures are interactive, and I usually catch up with friends between sessions in the student lounge or outside in the courtyard.
Afternoons are a mix of studying, group projects, or hanging out at the cafe. Sometimes we have workshops or society events that make the day more exciting.
After classes, I like to unwind, either by hitting the gym, heading out for dinner in Silicon Oasis, or just relaxing before doing a bit more coursework in the evening.
Why Birmingham Dubai?
I chose the University of Birmingham Dubai because it offered the perfect mix of a world-class UK education and the vibrant lifestyle of Dubai. What really stood out to me was the fact that it’s a globally respected Russell Group university, so I knew the teaching quality and degree recognition would be excellent.
The Dubai campus has a close-knit community feel, amazing modern facilities, and opportunities to connect with people from all over the world. I attended one of the Online Open Days before joining, and it really helped me get a feel for what the University of Birmingham Dubai was like. The session gave a great overview of the courses, the campus, and student life, and I even got to ask questions directly to current students. Hearing their experiences made the University feel much more approachable and exciting. Later, I also visited the campus in person, and seeing the facilities and the friendly atmosphere in real life really confirmed that it was the right choice for me.
I chose to live and study in Dubai because it’s a multicultural city with endless opportunities. I love how it brings together people from all over the world; it feels truly global, yet still very welcoming. There’s always something exciting happening, from new restaurants and events to cultural festivals and exhibitions. The city is also incredibly safe, modern, and well-connected, which makes student life so convenient. Plus, being in Dubai means I’m studying in one of the world’s fastest-growing hubs for business and innovation, which is really inspiring and motivating for my future career.
Why I chose to study Biomedical Science at Birmingham Dubai
I chose Biomedical Science because it perfectly aligns with my interests and long-term career goals. What drew me to the University of Birmingham Dubai was how the course combines strong theoretical foundations with real-world practical applications. The teaching style is very interactive, and the professors really encourage critical thinking rather than just memorising information.
I also liked that the course content is updated to reflect current industry trends, which makes it feel relevant and future-focused. Knowing that I’d graduate with a globally recognised degree and the skills employers are actually looking for made it an easy choice for me.
My Birmingham Dubai experience
My student experience at the University of Birmingham Dubai has been amazing so far. The classes are really engaging, and the lecturers are always approachable and supportive, which makes learning feel more personal. I’ve met so many great people from different backgrounds, and there’s a real sense of community on campus.
There are always fun events, club activities, and cultural celebrations happening, which make campus life lively and enjoyable. Outside of University, I sometimes take on part-time projects and explore the city further.
Birmingham Dubai’s impact
The support system here makes you feel like you’re never on your own; you always have someone to guide you.
The academic staff are always willing to help, whether it’s with coursework, research advice, or just general guidance. The Careers Network has also been a huge help; they offer workshops, CV reviews, and one-on-one career coaching sessions that have really boosted my confidence about the future.
I’ve also made good use of the academic services, like the writing support and study skills sessions, which have helped me improve my assignments and manage my time better.
I was awarded a scholarship that helped reduce the financial pressure, and the admissions and student services teams were always available to guide me through the application and enrolment process
Advice for students
My advice to prospective students would be:
- Get involved as much as possible, both academically and socially. Attend workshops, join societies, and take part in campus events; it’s a great way to meet people and build networks
- Stay on top of your studies, and don’t forget to ask for help when you need it; lecturers and support services are really approachable
- Time management is key, so plan your weeks carefully to balance classes, assignments, and downtime
- One thing I wish I’d known earlier is how valuable getting to know your classmates can be, not just for group work, but also for forming friendships that make uni life way more enjoyable
- Lastly, explore Dubai outside campus; it’s full of experiences that really complement your student journey
