A day in my life
A typical day at University for me is a mix of studying, leadership, and spending time with people. I attend my classes and work on my dissertation, while also taking on my responsibilities as Student President by attending meetings and helping plan different University events. I also create content for the University’s social media channels and my own platform.
During breaks, I like to spend time with my friends, play table tennis, dance, and relax. One of the most important parts of my day is listening to students’ concerns and supporting them whenever I can.
Why Birmingham Dubai?
I chose the University of Birmingham Dubai because it is a highly ranked university with a strong academic reputation, which was important to me. Being close to home was also a big advantage, as it made daily life more convenient. When I visited the campus, I really liked the environment; it felt modern, welcoming, and well-designed for students. Overall, it stood out to me as a place where I could receive a quality education while studying in a comfortable and supportive setting.
I attended an on-campus Open Day. I remember feeling very awed by the campus; it was much bigger than I expected, and at first, I felt a little lost. However, that experience also made me excited, as the size and atmosphere of the campus showed how much the University had to offer.
I chose to live and study in Dubai because my parents were not ready for me to move away yet, and studying here allowed me to stay close to my family. At the same time, Dubai is one of the best places to live and study; it is safe, diverse, and full of opportunities. I enjoy the vibrant lifestyle, the mix of cultures, and the many activities the city offers, both academically and socially.
Why I chose to study Business Management with Economics at Birmingham Dubai
At first, I applied to study Economics, but I was offered Business with Economics instead. Looking back, it was the perfect choice for me. The course combines economics with practical business knowledge, which helps me understand how theories are used in real life. It also fits well with my long-term goals, as it has given me a strong foundation and a wider understanding of how businesses work.
My Birmingham Dubai experience
My student experience has been very active and rewarding. Alongside attending lectures and studying, I am deeply involved in campus life as the Student President, where I work closely with students, attend meetings, and help organise events that bring the university community together.
I have made close friends at University and enjoy spending time with them between classes, playing table tennis, dancing, and taking part in debating. The student culture is friendly and supportive, and being able to listen to students’ concerns and represent their voices has been one of the most meaningful parts of my university experience.
Birmingham Dubai’s impact
The University of Birmingham has supported me in many ways throughout my studies. The academic services have been very helpful, from guidance with coursework and dissertation support to access to resources and workshops. The Careers Network has also been valuable, offering advice, mentoring, and opportunities to prepare for my future.
I have received strong support from the University of Birmingham, especially through scholarships, which have made it easier for me to focus on my studies. In addition, academic support from tutors and workshops has been very helpful, guiding me through my coursework and dissertation. Overall, the University provides a supportive environment that helps students succeed both academically and personally.
Advice for students
My advice to prospective students would be to get involved as much as possible, both academically and socially. Attend workshops, make use of the academic support services, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Join clubs, societies, or sports activities; these are great ways to make friends and enjoy your time on campus.
Time management is key, as balancing studies, hobbies, and social life can be challenging. Lastly, make the most of opportunities to take on leadership roles or projects, as they can give you valuable experience you might not get elsewhere.
