Stay informed about important dates for the academic year at the University of Birmingham Dubai, including term times, public holidays, and key campus events.

Term dates

The dates in the standard academic year calendar apply to most undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. The dates provided are correct at the time of publication, but may be subject to change.

Some programmes may teach outside this standard calendar; non-standard programmes include: all School of Education programmes, MBA, MSc Bioinformatics, MSc Global Health System Leadership, MSc Microbiology and Infection, MSc Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, MSc Sport and Exercise Medicine, MPH Public Health, MSc Supply Chain Management, and all January start foundation programmes. Attendance is required throughout term time, including during assessment support, examination periods, and the summer term.

Summer Term

  • Summer Term – Monday 8 June 2026 to Sunday 28 June 2026
  • Summer Research Period – The summer research period for taught postgraduate programmes begins on Monday 29 June 2026. This time is normally for focusing on the Dissertation/Project. Taught postgraduate programmes, when taken on a full-time basis, typically last 12 months
  • Supplementary Examination Period – Monday 17 August 2026 to Friday 28 August 2026

Public holidays and University closure days

We observe UAE public holidays and University closure days throughout the academic year. While we aim to provide accurate information, some dates may change, particularly those determined by the Islamic Hijri calendar (marked with an asterisk*). Final confirmation from the University will be shared closer to the time, following official announcements from the UAE's Moon Sighting Committee.

The University's academic year dates are available up to 2027/28. However, please note that dates at the Dubai campus may vary slightly. Finalised dates will be confirmed closer to each academic year.
