The University of Birmingham Dubai offers a unique opportunity for innovative and creative Academics and Professional Service Staff to be involved in building a sector leading teaching and research environment that is synonymous with a truly global and forward thinking University. 

Already recognised as one of the world's top 100 universities across the globe, this latest phase in the University of Birmingham’s global expansion builds on the University’s international teaching activities in Singapore and China, and its extensive international research collaborations.

Over the next twelve months, then expanding thereafter, we will be looking for new staff to join our already talented and committed Academic and Professional Services staff in ensuring that our campus in Dubai is open and ready for a new intake of students by September 2018. A number of new opportunities will become available in the areas detailed below.

Our ambition is to grow the University of Birmingham Dubai to around 4,500 students studying on a full range of programmes; and to establish an active programme of research.

UK Based Project Roles

Requiring some travel, these roles will be involved in the set up, delivery and support of the Dubai Campus from the UK and may include Estates, Finance, HR, Legal, IT, Marketing and Academic Services.

Dubai based Academic roles

To ensure that the full student and teaching experience in Dubai will be akin to in the UK, the overseas campus in Dubai is an extension of the academic Colleges and Schools in Birmingham.

Headed locally by University of Birmingham Provost Dubai, the academic input will be driven by our established outstanding academics to ensure our students have access to a world class British education and graduate with a University of Birmingham Degree.

As a Lecturer you will make a substantial contribution to the management, development and delivery of teaching and assessment at all levels relating to Primary Teacher Education whilst enhancing the student experience and employability. Through excellent teaching you will inspire students, and be informed by discipline-based research as well as contribute to the management and administration of the Department in Dubai.

Teaching is likely to include a substantial contribution to: (a) the management, development (including programme/module review) and delivery of teaching and assessment at all levels; and (b) enhancement of the student experience or employability.  The role will also involve developing and advising others, including: (a) providing expert advice to staff and students, including partner schools in Dubai and (b) developing and advising others on learning and teaching tasks and methods.

Lecturer - Secondary Science

Contributing to the whole range of teaching and administration relating to our teacher education programmes.

Teaching is likely to include a substantial contribution to: (a) the management, development (including programme/module review) and delivery of teaching and assessment at all levels; and (b) enhancement of the student experience or employability.  The role will typically also involve developing and advising others, including: (a) providing expert advice to staff and students, including partner schools in Dubai and (b) developing and advising others on learning and teaching tasks and methods. 

Teaching focussed role-holders should advance the practice of teaching in their modules within the school, take a role in leading curriculum development, and play an important role in student academic support.  They should also deliver excellent teaching that inspires students, and is informed by discipline-based research.
