Focusing on the late period of British colonial rule in Nigeria (1900 to 1960) we will discuss the work of a number of artists represented in the collection including Ben Enwonwu, Thomas Ona and Yusuf Grillo. Through these examples, we will explore the artists' perspectives on the representation of identity through material culture.

To ensure the event can start promptly, please arrive at 12:40. The Research and Cultural Collections Study Centre is G1 on the campus map. To gain access, please ring the black doorbell. There is a level change accessible entrance to the right-hand side of the building.
