To celebrate the University of Birmingham’s collaboration with Brazil, and to explore new opportunities for further engagement, we are delighted to be hosting an academic symposium with colleagues from UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). Our first UFRJ-UoB Online Symposium on Microbiology and Immunology will bring together experts from across the Paulo de Góes Microbiology Institute at UFRJ, and the Institute of Microbiology and Infection University of Birmingham, to explore and discuss a range of themes, including;

antibiotic resistant microorganisms,  magnetotactic bacteria, CD4 T-cell biology, innate immune system interaction with pathogens, medically relevant bacteria, microbiota, giant viruses and nanotechnology using viruses and bacteria, S. aureus colonisation and pathogenesis, bacterial stress responses, novel surfaces to prevent infection.
