SUMMARY:Conroy Maddox and Birmingham Surrealism
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/77351
DESCRIPTION:Birmingham Surrealist Laboratory\n Explore the fittingly unlikely topic of Birmingham Surrealism at this round table event on Surrealist artists and thinker Conroy Maddox (1912-2005).\n The Birmingham Surrealist Laboratory is inspired by the life and work of Maddox, who lived in the city from the 1930s to the 1950s. The round table discussion will feature some of Maddox's associates and contributions from scholars in the field and the event forms part the Birmingham Surrealist Laboratory project, which is funded by the Communities and Culture Network+. The project has explored Birmingham Surrealism with residents in Balsall Heath, where Maddox held court as champion of Surrealism.\n \n
