On the Way to Language

I am the head of a team, a coach, a producer, an organizer, a representative, a cheerleader, a host of the party, a captain of the boat…’ –Gabriel Orozco speaking of his role as an artist and exhibition maker.

Join artist Ian Giles and a panel of invited guests for a lunchtime discussion exploring how human relations can create an energy that is as palpable as traditional sculptural materials. We will consider how universities, gallery spaces, publications and evening classes offer the physical setting of a community for individuals; and ask: In what ways are these sites platforms that gather and then disperse?

Invited guests include: cultural geographer Dr Phil Jones; Joanne Masding artist and ESP Programmer at Eastside Projects and Reece Kennedy of Rope Press, a Birmingham based printing press and publisher.

Please feel free to bring your lunch along and light refreshments will also be provided.
