The China Institute is delighted to announce that Professor John Loughhead, CB, OBE, FREng, FTSE, will deliver our 2022 Li Siguang Lecture on the topic Science Diplomacy with China – behind the headlines

Science diplomacy is a central element of the UK’s international science strategy and particularly so in its relations with China. It is the progressive development of scientific collaboration in both research and policy fields to enhance dialogue and demonstrate what the UK believes are the values and benefits of its institutions and systems. While the overall diplomatic and political situation between the two countries restricts the areas where collaboration is possible there has been extensive activity over recent years, and this talk will review both what has been achieved and how it works in practice.
