DESCRIPTION:2nd and 4th November 2011\n Families regularly face choices of public services like schools, and information is provided to assist them by local councils and others bodies. Local politicians, school leaders and practitioners regularly also face making real-life and important judgements about school performances, particularly in terms of downturns in funding, falling pupil rolls, and the regular emergence of new types of schools. But are these judgements really evidence-informed? Do families and others have the simple knowledge and techniques needed to make evidence-informed judgements?
