DESCRIPTION:The Teaching and Learning Conference will be held on Tuesday 4 July 2017 in the Haworth Building and Murray Learning Centre. This year’s conference focuses on ‘Research-intensive Teaching at the University of Birmingham’.\n
 The Conference sets out to describe and examine what research-intensive teaching means, how teachers can embed research into teaching and learning and how excellence in teaching can be achieved at a research-intensive university.\n
 Keynote speaker PVC (Education) Professor Kathy Armour will examine ‘Teaching Excellence in a Research-Intensive University’ and Professor Mike McLinden (School of Education) will address the question ‘What is Research-Intensive Teaching?’. Professor Mick Healey will discuss ‘Institutional and college strategies to engaging students as partners in research and inquiry ’. This year also sees the return of the popular ‘Lightning Session’, where colleagues will deliver two-minute presentations in quick succession.\n
 The parallel workshops in the afternoon will be an opportunity to focus ideas from the morning sessions and explore their relevance in and outside of the classroom, and will also incorporate the student perspective. The full programme can be viewed here. \n
