SUMMARY:Vehicle Microplastics – a Global Challenge for People and the Planet
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/190760
DESCRIPTION:An evening of online debate.\n
Microplastic pollution affects our world’s vital ecosystems, from the highest Alpine mountains to the deepest oceans. If we inhale or consume these tiny particles through the food chain, we can experience health problems. Since electric vehicles are heavier, more wear and tear on tyres and brake pads produces more microplastic particles. Reducing microplastic pollution will be a major challenge as we reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.\n
Join the TRANSITION Clean Air Network and University of Birmingham's Institute for Global Innovation for this live evening of expert interviews, discussion and audience questions. How can we tackle vehicle microplastics for the benefit of people and the planet?\n
This event is presented as part of The Air We Breathe, a brand new public programme at The Exchange bringing together cutting edge research from across the University of Birmingham. From a hydrogen train to a sci-fi forest, discover how the University is delivering clean air both here in Birmingham and around the world.\n
