Oops! Accidentally Enforcing Gender Bias in the Classroom.

The classroom is one of the most common places where gender bias is regularly enforced.

This happens from preschool throughout higher education and the research shows that though is typically both accidental and benign, it amounts to a lifetime of engrained gender expectations and outcomes. We will discuss a series of research projects aimed at uncovering gendered interactions in the classroom, how these are influenced by parents, peers and teachers and ultimately the effects they have on our students.
