DESCRIPTION: Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 \n Hepatitis B and C viruses are a major global health problem resulting in progressive liver disease, including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). HCC is the most common liver malignancy, with an estimated 750,000 new cases and 695,000 deaths per year, rating third in incidence and mortality in the world. Whilst incidence and mortality for other common cancers are declining, this tumour represents an increasing significant public health problem. Despite advances in HCC treatment, most patients die within one year of diagnosis, largely due to recurrence and metastases. In China, there is big population of Hepatitis B and C patients (HPB&HPC). Professor Huang and Professor Peng are experts in the anti-viral research and will talk about their on-going advanced finding in these fields and potential collaboration with our excellent liver research group in our university. All the PIs, senior researcher, post-docs and PhD students from virology research areas will benefit from this seminar and could identify common research interest. \n
