DESCRIPTION:2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great writer and humanitarian Rabindranath Tagore. The university is celebrating this event with a lecture by the renowned Tagore scholar, Dr William Radice of SOAS, University of London. Professor Radice will speak on the topic 'The rhythm of Rabindranath Tagore'. He will discuss the unique and powerful sense of rhythm that runs through all of Tagore's creative work-in poetry, prose, song, drama and even painting. The lecture will be illustrated with William Radice's own translations, including his new translation, published by Penguin India in May, of Tagore's most famous book, Gitanjali (1912)\n This lecture will be delivered on the eve of a major conference on Postcolonialism to be held in the College of Arts and Law\n Cost: Free of Charge\n
