SUMMARY:Introducing Stuart Hall's Archive
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/160292
DESCRIPTION:Stuart Hall (1932–2014) was a foundational figure in the British New Left. A Jamaican-born British intellectual and political activist, Hall is famous for his tenure as Director of the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies, where he pioneered new approaches to studying the interweaving threads of culture, politics, race, and ethnicity.\n
Hall’s archive recently arrived at the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Research Library, where it is accessible for study. At this lunch-time seminar, archivist Dr Helen Fisher and historian Dr Rob Waters will introduce some of the highlights of the archive, talking about how its holdings relate to the history of political activism and black intellectual work in Birmingham.\n
All welcome. Please book as places are limited to 25.\n
