SUMMARY:Creative translation
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/212682
DESCRIPTION:Spark your curiosity for, and enjoyment of language and translation through a practical translation activity. This masterclass involves a hands-on workshop where you'll be given a selection of images that relate to the subject or mood of a poem that you'll later translate. You’ll identify key words and ideas from the images before reading the poem. You'll be given a glossary so you don't need to worry about knowing certain vocabulary. You’ll work in groups to produce a first draft of your translation and then refine it to ensure it reads smoothly in English.\n
This masterclass supports the Modern Foreign Languages A Level syllabus, which include an element of translation for most boards. It goes beyond just language learning and encourages you to be creative in engaging with the material. \n
Who can attend this masterclass?
This event is open to all Year 12 and 13 students. We recommend that you are studying a modern foreign language for A Level. Explore the rest of our masterclasses for more fun learning opportunities.\n
