DESCRIPTION:Join us in this engaging cultural studies masterclass to explore Stuart Hall's groundbreaking 'encoding/decoding' model, where we have teamed up with the Stuart Hall Archive Project to bring you a unique experience. Born in Jamaica in 1932, Hall made lasting contributions to British cultural and political life. \n
 In this session, you will delve into Hall's unpublished works to explore the 'encoding/decoding' model to help understand why he created it, how he used it and what insights it gives about how certain social divisions, such as race, are symbolised in cultural production.\n
 You will also have the chance to practise your own 'decoding' skills and use the model to analyse how contemporary forms of television represent race and ethnicity. \n
Who can attend this masterclass?
