SUMMARY:Drug discovery beyond carbon: A world of possibilities in the periodic table
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/165781
DESCRIPTION:Join this masterclass where you will explore the great possibilities of expanding our choice of atoms from the periodic table for drug discovery. You will get to see how nature uses metals in a varied range of functions, from DNA replication to muscle movement and enzyme activity.\n
This session's discussions will venture into therapies that go beyond the ordinary from managing conditions like arthritis to bipolar disorders. And guess what? Platinum, the band and main feature of many beautiful rings, isn't just about making things sparkle – it's used in cancer treatment too.\n
Who can attend this masterclass?
This event is open to all Year 12 and 13 students; you don't need any specific experience to be able to attend but it may be more beneficial to students studying chemistry or biology. Explore the rest of our masterclasses for more fun learning opportunities.\n
