SUMMARY:University Lecture Series: Kindness
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/203534
DESCRIPTION:Do acts of kindness have the power to foster radical hope and help survivors continue their journeys or build a new life? \n
Join Professor Jenny Phillimore as she examines the kindness of strangers experienced by forced migrant survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.\n
Professor Phillimore asks whether banal and extraordinary acts of kindness can connect people across social and political divides, and function as resistance to the cruelty and degrading practices of immigration, border and asylum systems.\n
This event is presented as part of A Place to Call Home – a new public programme of exhibitions, activities and events exploring what home means to all of us. Understand diverse experiences through the eyes of people who have lived through them and find out about the latest social justice research at the University of Birmingham.\n
